Jonathan Monk:

Hello world! My name is Jonathan A. Monk and I'm a musician by trade! I started music by singing to the vocal prowess of Yolanda Adams and by the beat of some of the hippest Hip Hop Drummers of the genre. I began playing the guitar, drumset and piano when I was younger but found that Saxophone was the instrument I wanted to 'get to know' the most! So, I began playing the sax in 7th grade and took it to the Osceola county School for the Arts, where training students to be prepared for the life of a professional musician was key. After graduating from the school for the arts, I began schooling at Gustavus Adolphus College in St. Peter, MN!

I am now a senior who has played with multiple ensembles on campus, including lead sax in the Gustavus Jazz Lab Band ('07-'11) and Bass Clarinet in the Gustavus Wind Orchestra ('07-'10), as well as many small ensembles for many school events, including playing for Gustavus' Commission 150 event in the fall of 2010 with jazz combo 'El Combo Supreme'!

I currently offer my services as sax player in many different genres, and offer lessons and filling parts for bands and ensembles. I also do a significant amount of composing, arranging, and transcribing for personal enjoyment, for small and large ensembles, and for hire.

Hopefully we can collaborate!
