The Outskirtz - Women’s Ultimate

History

The Outskirtz an Women's Ultimate Frisbee team from Gustavus Adolphus became official in the 1999-2000 academic year. IT is a branch off the Gustavus Men's team, now known as the High. When they could get enough girls together to play in a tourney they would but this was rare.

Then in 2000- 2001 year, the girls form the year before did a great job recruiting and got some new freshmen to join the team. They worked really hard all year in anticipation for sectionals and regional in the spring. Then at sectionals they swept it, who would think a little college in the middle of nowhere could do such a thing. Then came regionals they won 4 games and lost to only 2 teams. One of them being the team that won nationals that year. (a.k.a. Carleton) The Outskirtz went home feeling pretty good about themselves; I mean how many teams can really beat the number one team in the nation. Not many.

The next year they got lots of new recruits who were all very welcome out on the field. The team practiced twice a week in the heat, in the cold and always in the wind. Early that fall Carleton (that number one team) asked the Outskirtz if they wanted to play a friendly game some time. Oh, yeah the Outskirtz definitely took on this challenge. With only two subs, the Outskirtz gave the Syzer Gy's (Carleton) a run for the money. Guess who won? No, it wasn't the number one team. The Outskirtz won. The Outskirtz ended up winning all their games in the fall, undefeated. WOW, that is amazing.
