Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

1. What is Battlelords?
Battlelords is a deep space roleplaying system that focuses on the Alliance of more than 19 alien races who desperately seek to ward off the threat of the Arachnids while simultaneously exploring the vast uncharted regions of space. Mega-corporations run the government from behind the scenes, pulling on the strings of control in surreptitious power moves. Your job as a Battlelord is to explore untamed worlds, stop the interdiction of trade by the numerous pirate clans, or put down a rebel uprising. And when your time is up, you probably meet your demise at the hand of the most feared creature in the known universe, the Arachnid! Battlelords of the 23rd Century is skill based, utilizing percentile dice. Combat is realistic, fast paced, and simple, applying locational hits to the body. You alone carve your destiny while adventuring across a dangerous universe. Battlelords of the 23rd Century (BLs) is a skill based role-playing game in the future. The universe is controlled by the Alliance, a semi-government that was formed for mutual defense of all of the original twelve member races, but now has become a permanent fixture. The Alliance is controlled by the Gen-Humans, genetically engineered humans, and the Mega Corps (Mega Corporations). The game is skilled based and the emphasis is on role-playing, but hack n' slash style is certainly possible with over 2000 pieces of equipment! These range from archaic two-handed swords to frost guns to personal killer satellites. Battlelords is 65% role playing, and 35% hack n' slash. We offer more than 2000 pieces of equipment to play with, and you can play forever with just the basic book! From cybernetics to long swords, Battlelords has it all. Play a Ram Python, a giant lizard dumb as a stump. It couldn't spell cat if you spotted it the c and the a. They like to listen to heavy metal music and play with their Thwack 'em sticks, complete with radio! As the infamous Fred the Ram Python says, "If it moves, kill it! If it doesn't move, pick it up and kill it!" Or play a melon headed Mutzachan. Powerful energy controllers that some suspect control the destiny of the universe. At high levels they get cool matrix powers (spell equivalents) like Space Fold!

2. How does armor work?
THR: The threshold rating represents the amount of damage that must be rolled before the armor is penetrated. Concussion attacks ignore threshold. Full damage is applied to absorption rating (AR) or body points (BP). Even if AR is depleted, THR is not reduced. THR remains constant until armor integrity (AI) is reduced to zero. In fact, when AI reaches zero, that area of the armor has been completely destroyed, along with options in that section. Note that certain attacks, primarily lasers, ignore AR and do straight body point damage once they penetrate THR. Examples: An M-16 is fired at a suit of Bear armor. Bear armor has a THR of 5. All three bullets strike the armor. The damage dice are rolled and the first result is a 4. The attack bounces off. The next round does 5 points. It bounces off. The last round does 8 points. 8 - 5 = 3. Thus, 3 points penetrate to the layer below. An Omega cannon is fired at the same suit. 24 points of damage are rolled. All damage translates straight through th the AR. The owner is gwaked! AI: Armor integrity denotes the amount of metal on the armor. AI is reduced only when a non-concussion based attack penetrates. The amount lost depends upon the weapon discharge that penetrated. The Battle Master (BM) will tell you how much you lose per attack. Examples: The right leg of an undamaged suit of Bear armor is struck by 17 points of damage from a plasma cannon. Total damage is reduced by THR which is 5. Consequently, penetrating damage is 12. Finally, penetrating plasma attacks reduce AI by 8 points. Results... 12 points decrease in AR, and an 8 point decrease in AI. The right leg of an undamaged suit of Bear armor is struck by 17 points of damage from an Omega cannon. This is concussion damage. THR is ignored and penetrating damage is 17. Result... 17 point decrease in the right leg's AR, and AI is unaffected. The right leg of undamaged suit of Bear armor is struck by 17 points of damage from a laser. total damage is reduced by the THR of 5, so penetrating damage is 12. Penetrating laser attacks reduce AI by 1 point. Furthermore, lasers are not affected by absorption. Unless you planned ahead and purchased several points of ablative liner, you suffered 12 points of real body points to your right leg! Sucks to be your burned to a crisp leg! The right leg of undamaged suit of Bear armor is struck by 17 points of damage from a machine gun. Total damage is reduced by THR of 5, so penetrating damage is 12. Machine gun attacks reduce AI by 3 points. Result ... 12 point decrease in AR, and a 3 point decrease in AI in the right leg. Both AI and AR are listed in the book as totals. The breakdown of the totals for each of the body parts are as follows... Chest - 20% Abdomen - 20% Left Arm - 10% Right Arm - 10% Left Leg - 20% Right Leg - 20% SMRs: The chance the armor has of warding off attacks of various nature.

3. How can I get ODS to come to my convention?
The easiest way to accomplish this is to send us a dealers packet. Where and when the convention is, the approximate size of the convention and how long it has been running are all helpful.
