Hello Everybody,

I just wanted to say hello to all of the new and old members.
Last night's meeting went well. I understand that it was at an
inopportune time for a lot of people with work and classes and all,
but that's ok.
The main point of this post is that on Monday's normal
posting I would like to include a list of all of the Role-Playing
Campaigns that peole are interested in starting up and the details
surrounding them (ie when, how many people), and I haven't been able
to talk to everyone who signed up at the Activities Fair last
Tuesday. So, if anyone is interested in running a campaign this
semester drop me a note with the details. Trust me I think that
whatever you're interested in starting, there'll be people who will
be interested in participating. If anyone has questions about
anything just ask either myself or Nathan Yourchuck, the VP. Our
e-mail addresses and phone #'s are listed below.
Aside from the RPG campaigns, last night we kicked around
some ideas for other events and activites. The first and the most
definite is a Magic: the Gathering tournament. Myself and Aaron
Kiemele are planning a tournament sometime in the next couple of
weeks. Probably the earliest would be two weeks from this weekend.
Details will come in future posts. The second idea was for a
Live-Action Role-Playing event of some kind. I do not have that much
experience with LARPS (as they are quaintly called), but other
members do. If anyone has additional ideas as to when and what let me
know. Also, I'm not sure how many of you are familiar with the game
Killer (also know as Assassination). Well basically, each of the
players is trying to assassinate another player and people get points
for successfully doing so. Its not a Role-Playing Game, but instead
the people actually hunt their target's down with waterguns, or
plastic knives. It's a lot of fun and usual takes place over a week's
time. Anyway, these are the initial ideas that people came up with.
If anyone else has any ideas just let me or Your (Nathan Yourchuck)
know. Thanks for your precious time. And I would really like campaign
info by Monday if that's possible. Thanks again.

Hello Everybody,

It feels good to be writting this Monday Posting, I'm sure
you old timers have missed it oh so much. Well, this year looks like
it's going to be a good one for the Gustavus Gaming Society. With the
Activities Fair and the meeting last week, we have over 40 members.
Which is a tad bigger than the 18 we had last year.

This being the first Monday Posting and all, I thought I'd
talk a little about a lot of the stuff that was discussed at the
meeting last Thursday. I understand that many of you were unable to
make it due to prior commitments and that fact that I discovered a
lot of the signs taken down did not help matters any. Well, now's
your chance to hear what you missed.
The Gustavus Gaming Society is an organization that was
founded to provide a place for gaming enthusiasts to meet with other
likeminded individuals. Basically, GGS is a chance to talk about your
favorite games, to play them with other people who love them as much
as you do. Of course, most of you already know this, or else you
wouldn't be a member.
I founded the GGS last November as a freshmen after finding
no such organization in sight. I had heard about the mysterious Three
Crowns Gaming, but everywhere I looked I could not find any
information: no phone numbers, meeting places, ect. So, after
exhausting all avenues, I decided to create my own gaming group. Thus
GGS was founded. There was no advertising last year. None. Zero. Zip.
That is why most of you have never heard of the GGS until this fall.
But things have changed for this year.
We have several things already in the planning stages. One of
the main gaming activities available to everyone is the Role-Playing
Campaigns. There is a list of them at the end that describes what
game, how many slots are available, and when it is going to be
played. If anyone is interested in running something, let me know as
soon as possible so that I can send the info out to everyone else.
Otherwise, if you are interested in participating in a game, either
let me know, or let the Game Master know. I've included all of the
e-mail addresses of the GMs for each game.
I know that not everyone is an avid fan of Role-Playing
Games. I love RPGs and I highly recommend playing at least once or
twice with different Game Masters. Because not every GM runs a game
the way you would like it and not every game would be suited to your
tastes. But, there are other things than RPGs in GGS. The first is a
very strong presence of Magic: the Gathering players. I suspect that
at least 75% of the people in GGS play Magic. I know that in Pittman
at least, one can find a Magic game going almost every night in the
basement, especially on weekends. Aaron Kiemele and myself are in the
process of planning for a Magic tournament for the weekend of Oct
8-9. Hopefully, we'll have details out before the end of the week.
Also, I would really like to have a Live-Action Role-Playnig event
happen in the near future. I personally have no experience in
planning one and I've only participated in one LARP game. That is
something that would require more time planning, time which I do not
have unfortunately. Don't worry though, we'll have something like
that before the end of the semester.
I think that about wraps up the events that are being
planned, if I forgot something I'm sure someone will let me know.
Here are the Role-Playing Campaigns that are going on within the GGS:

If you signed up for a campaign at the meeting or have spoken with a
Game Master you do not need to sign up again. These are slots left
after the meeting. As everyone can see, there are still tons of games
available. I think I'm going to finish up the post now, I'm sure
everyone is sick of it. Until next time kiddies...
