EVENTS
Recruitment:
Each spring and early fall, the Greek community at Gustavus holds recruitment events. These events are designed to help
those interested in pledging to decide which organization they would like to join. The TMs participate in the IGS-sponsored
"Progressive Dinner" with all the other sororities each year. We also hold our own recruitment events. This year, we wrote letters to soldiers, had a BBQ with the Eppies, and held one-on-one interviews.
Pledging:
2 weeks and 3 weekends of fun-filled excitement, designed to
create the bond of sisterhood for the year's pledge class. This is
usually held from the end of September through the beginning of October.
Halloween Fun Run:
The TMs join the other Greeks in volunteering at the Saint Peter Halloween Fun Run.
Black & White
Informal:
In the fall each year, shortly after rush, the TMs have their
first function. The night is spent getting dressed up, making dinner,
and spending time with our sisters!
Fall Banquet:
In
November or December, fall banquet takes place for one night. This event is
semi-formal and is held at a hotel in the Twin
Cities or the surrounding area.
TMT Christmas Tree Project:
Working with a social worker in the St. Peter area, we are able to purchase Christmas gifts and other necessities for families in
need during the holiday season. We raise money through bake sales and other fundraising events, and then spend a day shopping
and wrapping gifts. Last year we were able to help 6 families make their holiday a little more special, by providing groceries for
a holiday meal, gifts for the children, and a few extra fun things for the parents and other family.
Spring Banquet:
Held during the spring semester, spring
banquet usually consists of camping or staying in cabins in
northern Minnesota for a weekend.
Relay for Life:
The TMs participate in the Gustavus-sponsored Relay for Life each year, held in the Lund forum overnight.
Suicide Awareness and Prevention Week:
Suicide prevention was introduced to the Gustavus
campus by the TMs and has become an annual spring event. This past year
we tabled outside the cafeteria, handing out pamphlets of information and yellow ribbons. We had a display of memorial markers
outside the campus center to mark the number of young adults who commit suicide each day. We also held various reflection events,
such as a candlelight vigil and benefit dinner. Our benefit dinner raised over $3,500 for the organization, SAVE (Suicide Awareness
Voices of Education) and we plan to raise even more in the coming years!
